We are here
As social organizations, we certainly work and provide services that are needed in our communities of care. These service packages have transformed lives since 2009 and to date, we have beneficiaries who have made an impact in their communities using the skill attained at IROMHA.
However, in the past weeks of October and November, we took up a task to travel and talk to new possible beneficiaries.
The purpose of this trip was to understand what they actually need and what's truly lacking outside our own road map, indeed we are professionals and we rather stick to our workplan but we thought, why not get it from the people that we are planning to save in 2023.
The journey was like a thousand miles and was filled with emotion and laughter at the same time. Areas outside cities are mainly ignored and receive little to no services, alone we can do so much but with the partnerships, we can actually run programs sustainable and transform lives.
Our beneficiaries shared their concerns and we documented their needs which align very much with our mission and vision.
It is heartbreaking to see the same people we went to school with, still living in miserable conditions due to a lack of opportunities.
It's one thing to discover needs and note them and a noble move to act upon them and bring about solutions that will bring their lives to a normal trajectory.
Life in the peripheries is often marred with unrecognized needs and unmet needs. We came across an issue of a woman who works at a nearby farm where they pick potatoes but she was involved in an accident, she broke her arm, leg. Help came very late and 2 weeks later she has not had her leg plastered. These are some of the challenges they face because they are often neglected. There is always a silver lining to every cloud, recreational activities through football, netball, and dance connect communities into one beautiful fabric of ubuntu.
The lack of healthcare services in Selous has left this community vulnerable, to early death. One needs basic care at least.
It's a Human Right for one to live a dignified life and it sure seems to be a luxury for a select few and I mean those few are in the cities Our youth have not experienced a youth hub or anything outside spending the day in the field and drinking home-made beers just to pass time and life. It seems all technological advancement is meant for the city.
I could Alay all points and lengthen this blog but the main points have been expressed. Did you know that partnerships WORK?
If this tickles your creative mind, why not take a look at the work www.iromhafrica.orgthat we do since 2009 in Selous, Makwiro and Chegutu and work with us.
If we draft down a clear road map we are winners.
Rural communities have untapped talent.
